If someone were to ask you what makes a house a home, what would you say? For me, I immediately think of plants, throw pillows, and artwork. A flickering candle and good company helps too! Interior decor has always been a passion of mine and, although at this point in my life, it’s not something I want to do professionally, I knew I wanted my career to be based around it in some way. I have enjoyed anything and everything creative throughout my life, whether it be painting, sketching, photography, cooking, etc. I have always believed that everyone should have a creative outlet.
My sketches take around 20-60 hours to complete, depending on the subject. I draw most of my inspiration from nature, and I’m sure you can understand why! I especially love the challenge of animals because there are so many different textures to try to achieve and each one has a unique personality to try to capture.
My ink sketch line is deliberately black and white, not only so that it seamlessly fits into any style or decor, but also because it just feels timeless. One of my favourite things about my ‘ink’ line is that it’s very minimalistic; an approach I have been trying to include in many areas of my life. I feel that sometimes art can feel a little cluttered, which can totally look great if done right, but sometimes I want a little more simplicity in my life (while still allowing my home to be covered in art). I may be a little biased but I feel that art can really tie together a room and bring that cozy ‘home’ feeling like nothing else. If you resonate with an art piece it becomes an expression of you. It’s your ‘style’, and it’s something that people can experience to learn about you.
I strive to run my business as ethically as possible, from sourcing products that are organic, fair-trade, produced locally, and recycled. I feel that my personal values and my business values should be one in the same. If I don’t do my part to take care of this beautiful place we call home then what will there be left for me to base my art on?
It is my greatest desire that my art will bring others joy, just as they have provided me throughout the process of making them. I appreciate each and every one of you for all of your support 🖤
