THE ARTIST
Jennifer Delaney is a self-taught Canadian artist based in Kelowna, BC. Her work explores the quiet beauty and intricate details of the natural world. Specializing in ink and pencil crayon, she creates highly detailed drawings focused on wildlife, land-scapes, and plants. Each piece reflects her deep connection to nature, capturing the subtle textures and expressions that often go unnoticed.
Jennifer lives with Visual Snow Syndrome, a rare neurological condition that causes a constant overlay of flickering dots across her entire field of vision. While this presents ongoing challenges, it has also heightened her sensitivity to fine detail, light, and contrast. Her unique way of seeing the world influences her art, where delicate linework and soft shading come together to offer a moment of stillness and intentional focus.
Her artistic journey began in childhood and has grown into a practice rooted in observation, patience, and reflection. Through her work, she aims to capture not only the likeness of her subjects, but also the emotions and essence they convey—offering viewers a moment of connection with the natural world, and a sense of calm in a chaotic world.
Her work is not just an act of creative expression, but also an invitation: to slow down, to look closer, and to experience nature through her eyes.
